Field Day

Field Day was HOT which is a great thing and often rare in these parts.  The kids had a blast competing against the other kids in fun races.  I love our little school and the uniqueness of it.  I love that all the kids are friends and that they all know each other really well.  Hayes only lasted a few minutes before he zonked out in the stroller, thank heavens!

A.R. Bike Ride

The kids got to go on a bike ride at the end of the school year for getting 100% on their A.R. (Accelerated Reader) goal for the quarter.  They had so much fun and the weather was perfect.  (That is not always the case for this event!)

Me and the babies tagged along and had lunch with them.  We rode around for awhile before excusing ourselves to head home.

I do love to watch my kids in their element with their friends though.  It shows me a whole different side of who they are and I love it!

Pee Wee

Sort of like Kallie, I have to make Cole play sports.  I just don't get it. He is naturally fairly athletic.  He's fast and strong and gets the game pretty well.  I think it all boils down to the fact that he loves to be at home and do his own thing.  Also he really just wants to be a cowboy!

It took him a few games before he was able to get a hit.  He was getting frustrated and not enjoying playing too much.  He finally got a couple great hits though and that made up for the rest of his strike outs.  He had so much fun running the bases!

I couldn't help snap a few shots of his best fans too.  Hagen spent a lot of time at the ball diamonds this spring and consumed WAY too many snocones!

Season ended with smiles though.  Good thing he has his best buddy Skyler on his team!

A Strange Occurrence and the Science Fair

The Spray Rig Guy stumbled upon this adorable baby moose while spraying grain at my dad's house in late May.  Poor guy was just tiny, a mere day or two old and abandoned.  He lived for a day or so, just long enough to tour around the community and put smiles on a whole lot of little peoples faces! My kids thought it was the greatest thing ever!

The kids' school had a science fair.  Kallie had been telling me about it for awhile.  She said her group had chosen to create a replica of the Solar System.  I was a bit nervous about this and tried my hardest to help her out.  She would have none of it and assured me it was under control.  It sure was too! These four girls did a great job and worked all by themselves.  I was so proud of them!

Berks: the baby whisperer!

Cole was sick the day of the fair.  He was so bummed out that he missed it and even more so when he found out that his group made the newspaper! Poor kid!

First Swim of the Season

The folks in Arizona would cringe at the temperatures that we find acceptable for canal swimming! If the temps reach 75 in May (which they did this particular day) there is no stopping these guys from taking a little dip.

After a mere two jumps each they were satisfied as the icy waters took the wind out of their sails.  It sure didn't stop them from trying the next day though! Oh how we crave summer here in Idaho!

School Play

Kallie had her school play at the end of May.  They performed "Stone Soup" it was adorable and Kallie did a great job.  She surprises me every year with how much she enjoys being in the spotlight.  I would have never guessed this to be the case when she was little.

Mrs. Killpack was Kallie's favorite part of third grade.  She LOVES her! She wants her to babysit and come over and hang out and is devastated that she is moving to Washington.  There is nothing better than when a teacher or other grownup makes that HUGE of an impact on my kids' lives.  Kallie would seriously have done anything to make Mrs. Killpack happy!

After the school play Kallie had her pal Kallie over.  they decided that they wanted to be cowgirls and spent a good chunk of time grooming up their horse before they went for a ride.  I sure hope these cute girls stay friends for a very long time!

Zoo Field Trip

The Kindergarten and First Grade classes go to the zoo every year.  The kids love it and I look forward to it too because I can take the babies and tag along.  Unlike Kallie who wanted me by her side every second on her field trip, Cole didn't really care what the boys and I did.  He was there to have a good time with his buddies!

Cole has a great class filled with nice kids from really good families.  I am grateful every single day that I sent him to school when I did instead of holding him back as I originally planned.  He thrives with these kids and they are all great examples.

Cole did humor me with a few good poses but was not thrilled to have his picture taken with his arch rival of five years! Cole and Lainee Dixon have butted heads since the first Sunday we moved into this ward.  It's really a brother/sister type relationship.  They get so annoyed with each other but have really started to get along well too.

Mrs. Christensen did a great job with this wild hooligans this year.  I know they wore her right out but as a parent I am so grateful for teachers that go the extra mile.
