The Rest of Cole's Birthday

Pregnancy makes me LAZY! I barely mustered the energy and creativity to make Cole this football cake.  Seriously I don't think a creative thought has ever entered my mind.  I saw a much cuter version of this cake on Pinterest, but lets be honest this is the best I could do.  I was pretty proud of myself because Cole wanted a brown football but he doesn't like chocolate frosting.  After several failed attempts at dying white frosting brown, I resorted to adding a tablespoon of cocoa to the white frosting and this is what I got.  Perfect really and it didn't even taste chocolately.  Go Me!

After a long day at the Lake the boys had football practice.  With Kallie and Weston still gone, I decided that I wasn't about to sing to Cole myself so we went to Grammy's after football.  The fabulous four came along because let's face it, they have been inseperable all summer.  Cole loves these boys and even though Preston and Bryson are three full years older than him, they treat him just like one of them.  Have I ever mentioned that we live in a great neighborhood?

Cole got new glasses on his birthday too.  He only has to wear them at school but was excited to show Grammy.  He looks pretty great if I do say so myself.

I told Chelsey to take a picture of Cole and I but apparently she thought she needed to be in one first.  What a goofball, but a great aunt.

Cole was embarrassed for me to give him a big old kiss on the cheek in front of all his buddies, but I think he secretly loved it too!

I love this boy more than words can say and I am so proud of what he is growing up to be.  He is kind and considerate and really tries hard to be a good boy.

Cole's 6th Birthday

The long awaited day finally came (and went, hallelujah!).  Cole has been excited all summer for his birthday.  The celebration seemed to last a full week again this year.  Cole went birthday shopping with my mom on Friday (more about that adventure later:) and Tuesday was his actual birthday.  Weston was going to be out of town for Cole's birthday so we started celebrating a little early.  He had his buddy Jeter over all day on Monday and then we let him open his presents.  Last year for Christmas he got a Playmobil Knights Castle.  He and the neighbor boys have spent hours playing with that and he wanted a few extensions and accesories to go with it.

(Had to capture this tired dirty face in the midst of all the excitement!)

The Mideval House and barn was a great addition along with a bunch of people and bad guys.  Cole and Jeter played for awhile longer and then Weston and I took Cole and Hagen to Pizza Pie Cafe (Cole's favorite).  Kallie was at girl's campout with G&G Crapo.

On Cole's actual birthday morning he was excited for a stack of "baby" pancakes with a candle.  It was just me and him and Hagen and we had fun blowing that candle out a bunch of times. Hagen was overjoyed!  (My kids like me to make them real small??)

When Weston is gone we pass the time by playing, a lot:) This day was no exception and Cole chose Rigby Lake for the day's adventures.  He invited his best buddy Skylar along for the fun and we had the cousins come too.

Instead of cake or cupcakes Cole wanted Maple Bars, good choice buddy! The kids loved them and gobbled them all up and then it was a full day of fun in the sun.

Trying to take a decent picture of these goofballs all together is basically impossible, but we try!

Hagen loved being burried in the sand but asked for his glasses because the sun was so bright.  We had to stand over him and shade him the whole time.

Bentley the beautiful! Love to watch this girl with her sassy little attitude play.
And apparently you need a man sized shovel to have a good time at Rigby Lake.  Kade is so much fun lately!

Cole and Skylar were basically MIA the whole time.  They finally came and played in the sand for awhile right before we left.  They swam around the rest of the time.  I love these two buddies.

These two pretend they don't adore each other, but I find them giggling and goofing off more and more all the time lately.  Fingers crossed they stay good friends.

I made Cole get a picture with his pregnant white mama.  He was embarrassed! (And recently decided that he needs to do the peace sign in every picture I take of him.) To end a great birthday Cole had his very first football practice. He was pretty excited to play for sure.

Angell Reunion

We had the Angell Reunion at the Ashton swimming pool again this year.  It is really the perfect setup, we get the pool to ourselves and then have the whole park to eat dinner and let the kids run and play.  This year, our slightly obsessed kids insisted that we make a pit stop at Twin Bridges on the way. We spent an hour letting them jump off that bridge one last time for the summer and then headed to the reunion looking like drowned rats.

This was the first time that the dad's (minus Hank) were able to see the kids in action at the bridge.  I think overly cautious Weston was pretty impressed that our kids would jump off that thing.

These cute cousins were too busy playing for picture taking.  It was all slides and diving boards for them.  I guess if we are being honest I was too busy sitting in my easy chair in the shade to follow them around and take pictures. I snapped when they were close to me instead.

Nothing quite like a cute little chubby baby bum in an adorable swimsuit.

I couldn't resist the cuteness of this picture.  I love this girls fiery personality and adorable chubs!

My dad and his baby brother Trent, these two are the greatest.  Ever since I can remember Trent was my favorite.  He took me to more basketball and hockey games than I can count, and spent hours making us all laugh our heads off.  He is a great guy, and when you put him and my crazy dad together you have the wittiest duo ever!

I loved this scene from across the pool.  Cole is finally earning some respect in Justin's eyes, and they have become pretty good friends. Justin spent an hour trying to teach Cole to dive, he did pretty good too.  Cole in turn taught Justin how to do the perfect belly flop, which I have no photographic proof of!

My cousin Maria had her four week old baby boy there.  He is the youngest of five sisters! Wowzers! Hagen loved him and was so sweet with him, as long as Grammy had him.  He did not like him so much when I held him though.  I hope he doesn't hate his baby brother!

Big Talk

Once my kids had discovered the joys of a bigger bridge to jump off of, they were all talk and bragging to the neighbor kids.  We soon enough took them along to see what all the fuss was about.  My brave little Cole Man had to show them how it was done, and they followed right along.  It was good for Cole's confidence to be the "bravest" kid.

Kallie was also pretty proud to be showing off her skills to the older kids.  We really have the best neighbors around. They have great kids who are good examples to my kids.  We are definately grateful for them in our lives.

And they were super thrilled about getting a group picture!
